DUNEDIN, Fla. – Spring Training has been all sorts of fun in the sun, but the Toronto Blue Jays are ready to get back to the city, especially Davis Schneider.
Schneider has been a part of the Blue Jays organization since being drafted by the team in 2017 as their 28th-round selection. Though it took time for him to get to the big leagues, he has been apart of this club through all of the ups and downs, understanding what it means to play for the city of Toronto.
“I feel like the fans are what makes the city of Toronto great,” the 27-year old shared with me at TD Ballpark. “Seeing them on a day-to-day basis, coming to the game, seeing them out when we go to dinner, it’s awesome. So, I’m happy that I’m playing for the city of Toronto.”

The team is happy to be back together following the 2025 season, keeping most of their key pieces and adding depth to the pitching rotation and heavy hitting batters, including Dylan Cease, Cody Ponce and Kazuma Okamoto to name a few.
Schneider, or as some call him “babe,” has been a fan favourite ever since his first at-bat with the club back in 2023, but made world-wide noise following a historic moment against Blake Snell of the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 2025 World Series. Schneider got the nod to be the leadoff hitter for game 5 and at his first at-bat, with the first pitch thrown, he swung and hit a home run, smashing a 96-mph fastball to left-field.
Following the New Jersey native's big swing, all-star Vladimir Guerrero Jr. walked up to the plate, feeling the momentum, and hit a home run, making it the first time a team has hit back-to-back homers to begin a World Series game.
The Blue Jays lost in heartbreak-fashion in game 7 to the Dodgers, but are not holding onto that dread.
They have been all smiles in Dunedin and ready to play meaningful baseball once again, especially in front of their fans at Rogers Centre.
